Nancy Erika Smith
Nancy Erika Smith is one of the top employment law attorneys in the nation. She and her law partner started the New Jersey firm of Smith Mullin. In 2017, Smith was awarded the prestigious American Association for Justice Public Service Award, with her client Gretchen Carlson, for their work in securing a groundbreaking $20M sexual harassment settlement against Fox News. Smith will join us Thursday morning to talk about "How the #MeToo Movement is Affecting the Law." Smith will also share advice on dealing with NDAs, getting around arbitration, and building a unique strategy for major settlement. Lastly, she will walk convention attendees through how to build a media strategy to compliment your legal strategy.
Frank M. Mungo is a criminal defense/DUI and plaintiffs trial lawyer who practices in Kentucky and Ohio. He consults nationally with trial lawyers to help them uncover the emotional cores of their cases and structure their stories to motivate jurors to help their clients. Mungo is an instructor at Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming, and an adjunct professor at Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He has degrees in physics, aerospace engineering, and mechanical engineering. As both a scientist and a lawyer he has a demonstrated ability to use the power of science to win arguments (and cases). Mungo joins us Thursday morning to talk about “Cross Examination.”
Ibiere N. Seck is a partner with The Cochran Firm in California. She has been practicing law for over nine years with a focus on complex catastrophic injury, wrongful death, TBI, police misconduct, and sexual abuse of minors. Ibiere is also a volunteer attorney with the Mesereau Free Legal Clinic in South Central Los Angeles where she advocates on behalf of low-income Californians and under-served communities of color. Seck is a board member of both the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA) and the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC). She received CAALA’s Rising Star Award in 2014. She received CAOC’s Street Fighter of the Year Award in 2016. She joins us Thursday and will speak on “Fighting Against All Odds.”
Tom Vesper is a New Jersey trial lawyer who handles serious and complex personal injury, wrongful death, TBI, product liability, professional negligence, and consumer fraud cases. He has tried hundreds of cases, and has staked many a claim to fame along the way. For example, Tom is credited with helping advance the legal rights of fire, police and emergency personnel and their families to recover damages in third party cases when they are seriously injured or killed on the job. He has also developed new ethical techniques for establishing and recovering money damages. Tom joins us on Friday morning and will speak on “Bullet-Proofing Plaintiffs for Deposition and Trial.”
Randi McGinn is the senior partner in a five woman, two man law firm in Albuquerque, NM. She is one of the country’s leading trial lawyers, having tried over 130 cases, and is renowned for her creativity in the courtroom and use of demonstrative evidence to visualize opening, direct, re-direct, cross-examination and closing argument. Randi is a past president of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and she was first woman president of the Inner Circle of Advocates (a coterie of 100 of the best PI attorneys in the US). She is author of the Trial Guides book, “Changing Laws, Saving Lives: How to Take on Corporate Giants and Win.” Randi joins us Friday to speak on “Stories That Reach Red State and Blue State Jurors Alike.”
Cancellations will be accepted through October 31, 2018 subject to a $50 administrative fee. After October 31, cancellations cannot be honored, but materials will be mailed or a substitute may attend. Nonmembers substituting for a member must pay the difference in price at the door.
