The Iowa Association for Justice (IAJ) is a full service organization for attorneys who practice trial advocacy in the state. Membership allows attorneys to take full advantage of our valuable benefits and services. For one thing, you will be able to access our continuing legal education programs and trial practice seminars at the premium member rate, most notably the IAJ Annual Convention held in early November.
IAJ works to educate and empower Iowa attorneys who fight for justice in our courtrooms and communities, and to defend the legal rights of Iowans who seek justice in our courts. IAJ members practice in a variety of legal arenas including personal injury, civil rights, criminal law, workers' compensation, employment, family law, medical negligence, products liability and property law. Members have a lot to offer one another, and IAJ facilitates professional connections that help members learn together so they can meet and surpass their obligations to clients.
IAJ also happens to be a proving ground for professional development and a springboard for career advancement. Our members are pillars in their communities and many have gone on to become high profile leaders in the state and nation such as U.S. Deptarment of Agriculture Secretary and former Governor Tom Vilsack and U.S. Representative Bruce Braley. Numerous state legislators and many Iowa justices and judges cut their teeth with IAJ when they were fresh out of law school.
